1. PABLO

Platform: iOS

Price: Free

Why it’s cool: You can make long-exposure videos, and light-write art photos in HD on your iPhone. How does it work? As TechCrunch explains:

“Since Apple’s API mandates that the camera shutter only stay open for a maximum of 1 second, PABLO needed to find a workaround. So they came up with a way to simulate the shutter staying open by taking multiple one second exposures and merging it into a video or photo (which is just the last frame of the video)… This faux long-exposure also means that you can see the content while you are capturing it, as opposed to a real long-exposure on a DSLR where the screen goes black and you can’t see what you create until after the fact.”

2. BeFunky

Platform: iOS

Price: Free, or $1.99 for BeFunky Pro

Why it’s cool: This is a one-stop shop for crafty DIY types and small businesses. Features include a collage maker, touch-up edits, adding fonts to photos, photo frames, overlays, “goodies and stickers,” and a bunch of other goodies. PLUS: instantly and simultaneously share your photo to your camera roll and Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr, and BeFunky. (Full disclosure: BeFunky is a sister company to Mylio).

How it’s handy, too: Like StillShot, Perfect Pic allows you to save photo files from any video you’ve recorded on your iPhone. Play the video real-time, slow it down, or slow it way down (slow motion) to “pause and flip through frame-by-frame to select a perfectly timed photo” to save. 7. Rhonna Designs

Platform: iOS, Android

Price: $1.99, with in-app purchases

Why my wife loves it: Because she can add creative personality to photos by editing them with exclusive frames, masks, designs, fonts and filters. Adjust transparency, color, shadows, outlines, size and angles to create text and shaped design features. Add masks to any photo using the variously-shaped designs; even add multiple designs/fonts to the mask.

How it’s unique: Boomerang from Instagram allows you to create mini videos that loop back and forth, then share them with your friends. Share it on Facebook and Instagram right from the app, or save your video to your camera roll to share later.

What it does, how it works: CloneCamera makes clones of your subjects and puts them in a single photo for a ghost imaging effect. Simply load up to six images from your camera roll, and CloneCamera will combine those images into one, leaving your subject in different spots or in different positions in that one image.
