Shuttle (also known as multi-location) is a unique and useful feature available as part of the Advanced version of Mylio.
Using shuttle, you can utilize a Mylio device to act as a relay between two devices that are not on the same wi-fi connection. This allows these devices to sync, even though they cannot establish a peer-to-peer connection.
As an example, if you have your home computer (labeled ‘Home Computer’) and your work computer (labeled ‘Work Computer’), you might upload 100 photos on your Work Computer that you want on your Home Computer. Mylio will sync these photos if you have the Home Computer and the Work Computer on the same wireless network, but if these devices do not connect to the same network then a shuttle can be used to move photos between them. For example, an external hard drive, phone or tablet can be used to temporarily hold the original images to deliver them to the Home Computer.
- On any device, open the device map.
- Select the device that you would like to act as a shuttle.
- Select ‘Device Settings’.
- Select ‘Shuttle’.
- Within the Shuttle menu, you can select the devices that you would like the device to shuttle between.
If a device is currently offline and cannot receive new media, Mylio will temporarily store these photos on the shuttle device until the shuttle is connected to the offline machine. Once connected, the photos will be downloaded and removed from the shuttle.
