Importing Aperture Albums or Specific Aperture Projects

Aperture libraries hold a lot of valuable data. Your edits, your tags, your keywords. This information is important in your transition to Mylio. We’ve created the Aperture migration tool to make sure all of this important information comes with you, but what if you don’t want all of your Aperture photos, but just some? This guide will show you how to import a limited set of photos from Aperture to Mylio.

Exporting a project to Mylio

Exporting a project to Mylio is easy, but requires enough space to store the projects you want to individually export doubled on your machine. This means that the projects you want will be copied out of Aperture, requiring additional hard disk space. Once you have verified you have the needed space, follow these steps:

  1. Open Aperture.
  2. In ‘Projects’ view, select the projects you want to export in to Mylio.
  3. Within Aperture, navigate to File > Export > Project as a new Library.Aperture_ExportProject
  4. Save your Library somewhere that you can access easily, and be sure that ‘Copy Originals into Exported Library’ and ‘Show alert when finished’ are checked.Aperture_ExportProjectDialogue
  5. Once Aperture alerts you that it has finished, you can now import this limited library into Mylio. This library will continue to hold your valuable edit information without permanently writing it to your files.
